Lee Jamison for Supervisor
Lee Jamison is a 27-year
resident of Stuyvesant Landing,
who brings management,
problem solving and community
organizing skills from a career
providing services to neighbors
with special needs.
Having come from a dairy
family in Orange County, she holds a Masters Degree
in Social Work from Adelphi University. She raised a
son, Jamie and daughter, Emily here in our riverside
community.
Lee has been an active volunteer on the Kinderhook
Library Board of Trustees, the MRDD
SubCommittee of the County Community Services
Board, COARC, the Stuyvesant Farmers Market and
the Recreation Committee. She has been an advocate
for clean air, for the Stuyvesant Falls Hydro and
green energy initiatives.
Lee is concerned that Stuyvesant's Town Supervisor
has declined to consider economic stimulus money
for such projects as repair of local bridges, the
Highway Department's salt shed, park and shoreline
improvements. This money could have created new
jobs in our town and lowered the local tax bite.
Michelle Richardson for Town Council
Michelle Richardson grew up on a
family dairy farm in Orange County,
NY, and sees a need to preserve
Columbia County's rural agricultural
environment, while also creating new
job and career opportunities in the
county.
She has a BS in electrical engineering from SUNY
New Paltz, spent twelve years in the high tech field
and is currently self-employed as a technical writer.
As a volunteer, she has been involved with the Town
of Stuyvesant Recreation Committee to build
community and encourage people to get outdoors and
be physically active all year long. She assists
townspeople with analysis and research in
understanding their property revaluations, and raised
concerns that the revaluation used peak sales data and
ignored the downturn in the market. Michelle is
working on business development initiatives for the
region, especially in the areas of clean energy and
green jobs, so our children can afford to stay in
Columbia County when they grow up.
Michelle will use her analysis and problem-solving
skills to help keep Stuyvesant affordable. Especially
in the current economy, the town should be diligent
in budgeting to cut waste. She would ensure that
public hearings truly allow for and consider citizen
input.
Michelle lives in Stuyvesant Falls with her husband
Kevin and three-year-old son Liam.
Mark Young for Town Council
Moving to Stuyvesant full-time with
his partner, Lori Selden, in 2001,
Mark Young made Columbia
County the main focus of his
business and his volunteerism. As
owner/operator of the Hudson
restaurant, Mexican Radio, for over
6 years, Mark employs more than 25 local residents
year-round. Striving to give back to the community,
Mark is a steady supporter of local organizations and
charitable efforts, including; Trustee for the Hudson
Area Association Library, Columbia County Bounty,
contributing to: Ken Hummel Memorial 5K Race,
Stuyvesant Clean-up Committee, Art at the Depot,
Peppertree Dog Rescue, AnimalKind, Columbia
County Council on the Arts, Columbia-Greene
Humane Society, The Northeast Aids Coalition and
many, many more. He is a member of the Columbia
County Chamber of Commerce and serves as a
regular Election Inspector at The Stuyvesant Falls
polling site.
A natural born communicator and tireless worker,
Mark will put these skills to work for the residents of
the Town of Stuyvesant as a Town Councilmember.
Recent property tax hikes threaten this very special
place and make it almost impossible for the people
who grew up here to continue to live here. Mark
believes the right mix of cost cuts and smart
promotion of business in Stuyvesant can lessen the
tax burden for all of us. He will fight for Stuyvesant
taxpayers to keep their homes.
